Many people struggle to match the right alcoholic drinks to foreign dishes. With such a wide selection of flavours to choose from at the Great Eastern Hakka, we thought we’d give you a few suggestions to help you out!
Our suggestions…
To start – A pot of Chinese tea is a great way to cleanse the palette and warm up the body for a meal. It’s a great way to thaw out after coming in from those chilly Melbourne nights!
Red Wine – You can’t beat a bottle of Penfolds shared between friends. South Australian wine country is renowned worldwide for producing impeccable vintages, and the Penfolds Bin 389 is a cabernet shiraz that embodies that reputation.
White Wine – Vavasour Sauvignon Blanc upholds the fame of the Marlborough region of New Zealand. With light characters of passionfruit and gooseberry, this drop is fresh and crisp with enough body to not be drowned out by the exotic spices of our menu.
Other – Not a wine drinker? Few things provide a more refreshing side to a hakka dish than a beautiful crisp cider. We’re proud to support the local region of Coldstream with Coldstream cider on our menu. This off dry cider is beautifully aromatic on the nose and semi-sweet to off-dry on the palette. Cheers!
Our wait staff will be happy to assist you in pairing your food choices with an appropriate selection from our drinks list. Feel free to ask for their help when you order!
